Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I m experiencing throbbing pain on the top and right side of my right foot. The pain is most notable when: 1. I walk down stairs; I m trying not to put my full weight on right foot, due to the pain 2. I lay down to sleep; I can t find a comfortable position to rest my foot. The pain increased gradually from an intermittent throbbing to a fairly regular throbbing; and while I work out 3 times a week on an elliptical and exercise bike, I don t recall any incident that led to this throbbing. I ve taken Bayer 325 MG pills, but the pain is not reduced.
The most probable causes I can think about from the short history are: Developing abscess. Insidious fracture without knowing the exact cause. Fascitis and soft tissue problems. Bony conditions. I would advise you the following in such a situation: Consult your Doctor for clinical examination and X-ray with tests of blood to know the primary cause. CT scan or MRI of the affected part supports the diagnosis better. Once the diagnosis is established the treatment can be specific. Till then use elastocrepe bandage to support. Use crutches for non-weight bearing. Take an anti-inflammatory like Ibuprofen if it suits you.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant, ENT & General Surgeon
