Hello,

This is Dr. Viraj Shah, Environmental and Occupational Health Expert answering your query. All the respiratory, neurological and skin problems you are experiencing are due to exposure to black mold.

Black mold exposure is not a life threatening condition so you do not need to worry excessively. As the exposure ceases, the symptoms start decreasing in intensity and as you have not suffered any irreversible damage to your health yet, you will be fine.

Exposure to black mold is more like being exposed to an allergen. Thus, antihistamines available over-the-counter such as Levocetrizine 5 mg (Levocet) or Loratidine 10 mg (Lorfast) once a day for 5-7 days will give you immediate relief in the symptoms. In addition, if you feel that your nose and sinuses are congested and feeling bad taste in mouth due to that, using over-the-counter decongestants will help.

If you do not find complete relief in 5 days or if the condition worsens, you should visit a physician for extensive treatment with steroids. I also advise you to take care regarding preventing exposure to black mold again in future as you will be more sensitive to it now and may experience more severe problems.

I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish you feel better soon.
