Suggest Treatment For Symptoms Of Bell S Palsy

I developed Bell s Palsy a few years ago. Since then I still don t have my normal control over the left side of my face. I can t smile, when I eat my left eye has a mind of it s own, it s draining all of the time and the left side of my mouth twiches when I blink. These things I have dealt with and are not the worst of my problems. Since it happened, I m steadily having dental issues. My teeth on the left side have been breaking easily and developing holes. I admit I haven t been good with dental exams but I brush well and can t help but see a coincidence with it being my left side affected. I ve also been having severe aching pain in the jaw area, under my ear and in my neck under the jaw. The pain begins gradually and is relatively short (maybe about a minute or two) but it s the worst pain I have ever felt. Can t say there is anything that happens prior to it but I can feel it coming on. Looking up lots of things but nothing I ve read has everything that I m experiencing. Wondering if the Bell s Palsy has anything to do with it all since I ve never had any of these issues before.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of Bell's palsy i.e weakness and paralysis of facial muscles of one side mainly left. It could be due to trauma, inflammation or viral infiltration of the nerve that can cause infection of the facial nerve that is a seventh cranial nerve and supplies muscles of face.

Need not to worry. I would suugest you to

- Maintain hygiene and and apply cold compresses every 4 hourly alternative with warm compresses.

- Do mouth stretching excercises such as blow in and out after closing nostrils.

- Take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain. Start with physiotherapy.

You should consult ortho and maxillofacial surgeon once for proper examination and start with proper course of antibiotics and anti inflammatory medications and vitamin supplement.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Get Well Soon.

Best Wishes,
