I have been having lip swelling for over 2 months..I was taken off of losartan and put on amlopidine, but I still am taking metroprolol and atorvastatin..could these also be causing the swelling...my doctor is putting in for an allergy consult, but it is taking forever..

Hello,

Metoprolol and atorvastatin are not associated with lip swelling, but neither is losartan.

It is possible you are having some sort of allergic reaction; contact dermatitis and sometimes thyroid problems can also cause lip swelling.

Hopefully the allergy consult will help determine if there is an allergy component; if not, I would check your thyroid. Other causes would be very rare.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Aaron Branch, General & Family Physician
