General & Family Physician 's  Response
Dr. Hanif warmly Welcomes you!

Thanks for consulting at my virtual clinic. I have carefully worked through your case, and I can realize your health worries. Being your physician, I assure you not to worry as I will take care all of your medical concerns.

First I come to your medications. If I was your treating physician I would like to replace Amlodipine Besylate with Hydrochlorthiazide 12.5 mg with breakfast daily. Legs and feet swelling is a side effect of Norvasc (Amlodipine) which most of my patients complain. Benefit of water pill (Hydrochlorthiazide) is that it will pick water up from your legs and feet and will excrete that in urine to relieve you a lot. Its a superb medication for you, unless otherwise contraindicated due to some medical reasons. Discuss with your physician.

Secondly I would like you to consider some life style modification. During the shift/Work stretch your legs after every 5,10min. Don't stand steadily for hours. Keep on moving your legs alternatively while standing, by lifting leg up and bending leg backwards & touching your buttocks with heal. Do it turn by turn. It all will help push blood and lymphatic fluid back to your heart.

When back home, keep legs raised for as long as you can. While sleeping, if you don't have a breathing difficulty and have no sleep apnea, keep a pillow below your legs to keep them a bit raised.

Dip your feet in warm saline water to soothe you.

Hope it helps. If you need further, detailed and quick assistance related to any health issues in future, feel free to 'ask me a question' directly from my profile.

Have a wonderful time ahead.

Best Regards!
