Suggest Treatment For Swollen Gums In Children During Teething

My son is 13 month, he is teething and on the bottom right hand side his gums are swollen where a tooth could be trying to come through. The other three teeth came through without a problem and this one seems to just stay swollen like pea size or smaller. It hasn't seemed to be bothering him til last night/today. I don't know if I should take him in or not. It doesn't seem red as infected, there hasn't been any pus or anything like that. It's going on 3 weeks it's been swollen and all his others have can through and this seems to be the last one. I get more and more worried as hours go by. He has no fever, ad okay appetite, normal dirty diapers,

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..

As per your complain swollen gums is a commonly seen finding in teething children and you need not to worry about it as the symptoms seems to be due to protruded gum with the tooth under it that has broken through bone but is lying understand the gums that has not torn the gums..
The gum can be slightly inflamed due to continuous pressure with the underlying teeth while there is also a possibility that tooth is about to tear the gum to erupt and it is causing pain..
Nothing to worry do cool compresses in the area to soothe the gums..
You can also give Tylenol for relief..
In case if the condition exaggerates or pain is severe consult a Pedodontist and get evaluated..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
