I went to emergency room they gave me I V antibiotics and a r/x for the same. After a few weeks I had several teeth removed, after the recovery my face remained swollen and very painful. I have gone to the dentist several I have ptsd. I have gone to my pcp I am also suffering from other major pain issues and can t seem to receive what I think is a proper diagnoses with my lower jaw possible tonsils and adenoids.

Hi,

If after removal of teeth also the face remained swollen and painful then there is a possibility that the infection has progressed into facial spaces leading to facial space infection. As the infection lasted for about 8 months, therefore chances of spreading of infection increases.

It needs a thorough examination and an MRI scan of the face so that the exact cause can be ruled out. So my suggestion is to consult an Oral Surgeon and get evaluated, a course of oral and injectable antibiotics and anti-inflammatory painkillers can be advised. In case if there is pus then incision and drainage can be done.

For now, do cool compresses over the swelling. Also, start doing meditation and deep breathing exercises to reduce anxiety.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
