General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

If there is redness and swelling then it is certain that there is inflammation and I must tell you that you have given Motrin correctly. I'd suggest to apply Neosporin powder 2-3 times daily for 2-3 days along with Motrin twice daily and don't worry he'll be alright. Please see a pediatrician if things worsen or not improve after a couple of days.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
