Hello, You are suggested to reduce salt intake, keep your leg elevated while sitting or sleeping(on a pillow). Wear support stockings. Compression bandage & ice packs effectively reduce discomfort. Take plenty of water. Soak the feet in cold water for relieve. Take Acetaminophen or NSAIDS for relieve from pain. You are suggested to get clinically examined by a GP & get all investigations(blood & imaging tests) done to detect the cause of the pain & swelling. Commonest cause is kidney disease, treatment is a low-protein diet, and supplements of vitamin D and calcium. Cut on alcohol intake & reduce weight (in case of liver dysfunction). In case of cardiac problems detected treatment includes medicines along with medical devices to support heart or surgery. Varicose veins will be treated by repair of the damaged valves or surgery.
