Suggest Treatment For Swelling On The Jaw

I feel like the area between the bottom of my ear and my jaw is swollen. It does not look it, but it feels soar when I move my head to the left or lower my head toward my chest. It's like having swollen glands but the area is not under my jaw where my glands are....it's more to the side of my jaw where it hits my ear. Over the past several weeks, I have felt this "twinge" in that area but when I go to press it, I can't really find the area that "twinged". However, when I woke up this a.m., it felt sore....like touching a sore muscle. My mother died of non-hodgkins lymphoma. I don't seem to have any swollen lymph nodes anywhere. Is this something I need to get checked?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

As per your complain swollen area between the bottom of the ear and jaw which is sore and painful even on head movement can be due to multiple reasons like Inflamed gum flap over the wisdom tooth while other common cause can be swollen lymph nodes that needs not necessarily be due to Lymphoma only but can be due to infection also..

Consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like x ray can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..

As of now do cool compresses over it..
Take anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen..

Hope this helps..

Regards..
