Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I noticed an elderly female relative this evening 79 years of age that it sounded with some words like her tongue was swollen or like she had just been to the dentist and the antistatic had not worn off yet. She has been saying her left leg had some ache , but she has been working in her house a lot more than usual. Don't know what the morning will bring. Do you think we should take her to the ER?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain it is appearing to be like allergic reaction to any unknown allergen that can be most commonly any food or medication.. Slurring of speech and numb feeling can be due to it..
So my suggestion is not to delay and consult an Emergency room as excess swelling of tongue can cause choking..
She can be give oral anti allergics like benadryl and a steroid shot if allergic reaction is diagnosed..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards.. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora..
