Suggest Treatment For Swelling In The Lower Lip

my bottom lip has started to swell up. It has gotten real fat. I was outside working and had gotten bit by mosquitos. Then about half hour later, I could feel a small bump on my bottom lip. It started swelling and kept swelling to the point that my whole bottom lip is swollen real big.

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

Your symptoms are pointing towards allergic angioedema of the lips that is causing swelling of lip and if you got bit by mosquitoes, there is a possibility of being bit by some poisonous insect that might be causing allergic reaction..
If you do not have any other symptoms like swelling of tongue and breathing difficulty then you need not to worry about it..
You can take anti histamines like Benadryl, Allegra, Levocetrizine etc to reduce the swelling..
Apply ice packs over the lip as it also helps in reducing swelling..
In case if swelling is uncomfortable and progresses too much then you can consult an Emergency room and get a steroid shot for faster relief..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
