Suggest Treatment For Sudden Anaphylactic Reaction

Dear Sir, If my child has an anaphylactic reaction and I had a nasal airway tube on hand would it help? I am a nurse. Would it be sufficient to keep enough airway open if it closed? We carry EpiPen s but live a ways from a close hospital. Could a person give breaths through it with CPR? I could not find sufficient information about this. If you know of some websites that would be helpful I would appreciate it.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in hHCM.

I understand your concern.

Anaphylaxis is a serious allergic reaction that is rapid in onset and may cause death.

Avoidance of the trigger that causes anaphylaxis is the best.

In sudden anaphylactic reactions, the following things needs to be done to save the patient.
You need to manage by taking care of 'ABCs' -
1. Airways needs to be kept open with equipments required to perform resuscitation and airway management and oxygen needs to be administered.
2. Blood pressure and Circulation needs to be maintained by means of infusion of intravenous fluids.

Administration of drugs such as epinephrine is the treatment of choice, along with antihistamines and steroids.

The patient needs close monitoring in the hospital and should be under observation.

Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
