Suggest Treatment For Stress Fracture In The Ankle Post An Ankle Fusion

When your Dr said he thinks you have a stress fracture in your ankle, I just had a ankle fusion 4 mo. Ago and am still healing from that. Today appt X-ray show a possible stress fracture, he is sending me for a C-scan. I guess my question is if there is a fractured what would be the process if it is fractor? Cast, more surgery? What should I expect?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

First of all, it's sad to know what you had been going through lately.

Based on the history you have shared, you need orthopaedic review and oral or injectable bisphosphonates after a bone scan. this may sometimes require a cast but after careful radiographic evaluation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
