Suggest Treatment For Stomach Pain

Why am I having sudden, severe stomach pain that started in my upper abdomen and has moved down to my midsection. It hurts when I breathe in, when I m sitting up, or laying on my side or my stomach. It also hurts when I press down on the area or push my stomach out.

Hi,

Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.
There are various possible of acute severe stomach pain with radiation to umbilicus.
One of them is-Perforated peptic ulcer: A long-standing or untreated peptic ulcer in the stomach or duodenum (first part of the small intestine) may perforate (the ulcer goes through the thickness of the wall causing a hole)and cause acute peritonitis.
Another common cause -Acute pancreatitis: Gallstones and excessive alcohol intake are two major factors responsible for 90% cases of acute pancreatitis. In this condition, there is excruciating pain in the upper abdomen along with nausea and repeated episodes of vomiting (which you don't have at present).
You need to undergo plain x-ray of abdomen including both domes of the diaphragm in erect posture and Ultra-sonography of abdomen as minimum work-up and few other basic investigation like complete blood count and serum amylase and lipase levels. Please consult your doctor.
