Suggest Treatment For Stomach Pain And Fever In Kid
my son is 5 1/2 years old. took him to urgent care on Thurs. He was running a fever of 102 and we could only get it down to 101.6 and he said his stomach hurt. he tested neg. for streap neg. for the flu and urine should just a little high on protein. Ears looked good. The NP gave him an antibiotic. Still he has a fever that keeps coming back and still complaing about his belly hurting (right above his belly button) u can tell he does feel well. After he takes tyneol he feels ok for about an 1 or 2.

Fever of four days without any localizing signs could as well a viral illness. Usually rather than fever, what is more important is the activity of the child, in between 2 fever episodes on the same day. If the kid is active and playing around when there is no fever, it is probably and it doesn't require antibiotics at all. Once viral fever comes it will there for 4-7 days. So do not worry about duration if the kid is active.
You can treat fever with Paracetamol at 15mg/kg/dose every 4-6th hourly if fever is > 100F. I suggest not using combination medicines for fever as usually most combination medicines combine Paracetamol with NSAIDs and is not advisable.
