Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had an MRI on my left foot after having pain for 6 months. The main pain is at night when I sleep and I have sharp pains and a burning sensation. The MRI shows a spring ligament tear. I have been in a boot for 6 weeks already. What is the next step or treatment to get this fixed.
As per my clinical experience, the spring ligament tear if having significant tissue dysfunction can pause difficulties in movements particularly that of walking, jumping, running etc. My guideline at present: - Assisted physiotherapy with expert physiotherapist - Round the clock intake of anti inflammatory or naproxen type medicine - Keep the leg elevated over support of 3 pillows when resting - Avoid sitting in leg dependant position - Avoid tight shoes or sandals - Avoid walking barefoot - Control of blood sugar - Control of body weight Discuss the need of any arthroscopic ligament repair in case of non healing or non satisfactory results of conservative measures as above.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
