Suggest Treatment For Soreness In The Hand After A Electric Shock

Last week I got shocked by a clothes dryer. It was a good 15 seconds where I almost felt pulled in by the electricity. Since then the spot that was touching the dryer has been sore, not all the time just to the touch, and slightly discolored like a bruise. Is this normal?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The area which got injured in the shock has been damaged and if its causing discomfort to you then you can apply some anti-inflammatory ointments, which are available over the counter, over the area. If the area turns into some kind of open wound then you may need to apply antibiotic ointment. The area will heal slowly however some cases take a very long time to get completely fine.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Anoop Kumar, General & Family Physician
