Suggest Treatment For Sore Throat And Redness In The Tongue

I awoke with a very sore throat (deep past tonsils) last Saturday. Throat is somewhat better, but now the first inch or two of my tongue is very red and sore. When my doctor looked at my throat yesterday she said there were blisters in the upper part of my mouth.

I have gone through your query and can very well understand your health concern..

As per your complain it seems that you have PHARYNGITIS along with GLOSSITIS..
It is caused by either bacteria (more commonly) or virus..
It is commonly caused by bacteria but in case if it is associated with flu like symptoms it is Viral Pharyngitis..

-You should take a course of antibiotics like Augmentin 625mg thrice daily for 5 days..
-Warm saline gargles can help..
-Take Allegra 60mg twice daily..
-In case of pain Ibuprofen can be taken..
-Chewable Vitamin C tablets can provide relief..
-For inflammation of tongue a short course of steroid like Prednisone twice daily can help..
-Sucking ice pops can help..
-Gargle with ice cold water can be relieving..
-Benadryl gargles can help..

If the condition does not improve you should consult an ENT expert..
