Hi..
Can understand your concern..

Your mother's tongue is swollen due to trauma caused by her broken tooth which must have left with sharp edges..
You need not to worry as the swelling will go away slowly but what you need to do is get her tooth corrected to avoid further injury to the tongue by visiting the dentist who will evaluate clinically and do the appropriate treatment like filling or capping.

If she has soreness or pain in tongue she can apply anaesthetic gels like dologel or mucopain gel.

For sore throat she can do warm saline gargles, taking painkiller like Ibuprofen or Calpol can help in reducing inflammation for both tongue and throat..

I would advise her to take soft and cold food and avoid spicy and hot food..

If she does not feel better in next 3 to 4 days she should visit a doctor..

Hope she get well soon...

Thanks and regards..
