Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have sniffing, dry throat and severe cough which is due to severe upper respiratory tract infection and it could be due to granular pharyngitis/ bronchitis. Sometimes such symptoms can also occur due to conditions like acid reflux and allergic reaction .

I would suggest visit ENT specialist once and get it examined. You should get chest X-ray and pulmonary function tests done to check extent of infection and start treatment accordingly. Do warm saline gargles. You should avoid cold liquids and spicy food. You take nasal decongestant sprays , Antihistamines and antibiotic combination as infection is present.

Amoxiclav along with cetrizine is recommended. You can take Diphenhydramine for 3-4 days. You should take steam inhalation. Avoid exposure to allergens as well. You should take some mucolytic drugs to dissolve mucus and your symptoms will be relieved. Doctor may also refer you gastroenterologist for acid reflux .

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
