Suggest Treatment For Side Effects Of Ticagrelor

I had a heart attack in September 2015, Ticagrelor 90mg twice a day, was added to my medication. When I got home from the hospital, I suffered some side effects which I contribute to this drug. My Doctor agreed and took me off it. When I next saw my specialist, he put me on Apixaban 5mg twice a day. I have developed side effects which are not very pleasant, Shortness of breath, hives and itching, swelling and tenderness around my eyes and other parts of my face, Difficult in swallowing are the main effects. Before I had my heart attack I was on 75mg of dispersible Asprin for over 30 years, I never had any of these side effects. Personally, I would like to go back on Aspirin and stop taking the Apixaban. I am 76 years old. I do not want to go on Warfarin.

Hello,

If you can not tolerate newer antiplateles, you can switch to conventional drugs like aspirin and clopidogrel. Consult a cardiologist and he will direct you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
