Suggest Treatment For Side Effects Of Clarithromycin

I am taking Clarithromycin for a terrible sinus infection. I have been onit for four days and although my infection seems to have cleared, I am exhausted, head very foggy and constipated. I have never had this reaction to antibiotics. Is this a strong antibiotic? Also can I stop taking? My mucus is clear

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It is not due to clarithromycin. Most probably it is due to sinus infection itself.

Nothing much to worry and it will settle by itself. As of now drink plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated.

If there is constipation, you can take laxatives like lactulose for symptomatic relief.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
