Suggest Treatment For Shortness Of Breath And Asthma

Hi, I e been experiencing shortness of breath for the past couple of days. About 1 in every 4 or five breaths feels right. It is something that used to happen maybe once every two weeks or so, but this time it hasn t gone away during my waking hours. I had asthma as a child, I was a smoker for 10 years (2 years, 11 months and 1 day smoke free) and had a small bout with pericarditis, which i got steroid injections for. I went from a highly active restaurant job to a zero activity desk carrier recently. I am on no medication. I have an appointment with a general physician later this week. Thank you for taking the time to look at my inquiry.

Anesthesiologist 's  Response
Hello,

You need to do spirometry which increases your breathing power. Nebulisation as prescribed. Good hydration, smoking deaddiction will gain your lungs back in shape by 2 months at least.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Anusha Molugu, Anesthesiologist
