Suggest Treatment For Severe Vaginal Itching

Recently I had a Uti for 3 days, from Sunday to Tuesday. On Wednesday everything was perfectly fine until in the evening when I experienced itchiness at my vaginal opening and bit inside of my vagina. That same day I had used the washroom at one point and when I wipped I saw some red spots on the paper, the pee was clear. During that night I woke up several times to pee and every time my vagina was itchy, but no red spotting. When it was morning, the sensation had left. Later that Thursday, before bed around 10 or so, the itchiness returned and I went to the washroom to find some pink residue on the paper, clear pee once more. Today, Friday, I am now experiencing a small urgency to pee with itchiness once more. I have not had any discharge during this period of time. My last period was this month from the 12th to the 17th which is the usual length. Is there any suggestion as to what is happening and how to cure it? Food or drink recommendations?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms are more consistent with infective causes like yeast or bacterial vaginosis. Consult a gynaecologist and plan for a vaginal swab to confirm the diagnosis. As of now, you can use clotrimazole lotion to cleanse your genitals.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
