Good day, sorry you are experiencing these symptoms. I would agree with your initial doctor, the most common cause of vaginal itching during pregnancy is a yeast infection, which is commonly treated with vaginal suppository anti-fungals like clotrimazole cream. If this doesn't work, another option is to try a systemic anti-fungal pill such as Fluconazole (150 mg taken once) that sometimes does the trick. Some homeopathic remedies for yeast infection appear to involve watching what foods you eat. Foods high in bacterial cultures (yogurt, cheeses) appear to have a positive influence on the vaginal flora, wheres foods low in nutitious content (such as fast foods) appear to worsen vaginitis. I try alot of my Obstetric patients on probiotics, which are concentrated versions of these live bacterial cultures, taken by mouth in the form of a pill. So, I would recommend modifying your diet, eating yogurts, probiotics etc. Another possibility is you have a different kind of infection than yeast. A common cause of vaginal itching is bacterial vaginosis. This tupe of infection can cause of foul odor, thick discharge and itching. It is treated with a course of anti-biotics (usually Metronidazole). It is not considered a sexually transmitted infection. I do not recommend you use "dettol" or similar OTC agents intravaginally. Let a healthcare professional make the proper recommendations. As is routine per the American College of Gynecology, you should be recieving pelvic and STI screens as part of your obstetric care to rule out other causes of vaginitis such as Chlamydia and Gonorrhea.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.
