Suggest Treatment For Severe Tooth Pain While Repacking Filling
Hi, I work at a dental office and have been for quite a while been in severe pain regarding tooth #2. I previously had an extremely large (repeated) filling in which the palette had to be numbed in order for me to not feel it. Turns out I had acquired a pulp stone during this process and the extra packing placed before the composite failed exposing the pulp- this was NOT done where I work, had to outsource as at that time it was a pedo. So the pain became unbearable about a week ago and I had a full pulpectomy. Half and half as well as periodex rinsing after all the filing. Packed with cotton (not pellets) and temp cement. Nothing sealed as there wasn't time. That night every bit of the packing came out and the Dr didn't have time to fix it til Fri. At that point my tooth was packed with food. He took a pick, pulled a bit out, flushed with water and repacked. At this point I have been in the most excruciating pain of my life since Sunday. Does this have to do with unhygienic repacking? I'm at the point where I simply want the infection to go down enough to be able to be numbed for an extraction and I'll get an implant. This is the most horrible feeling ever!
As per your complain since your Pulpectomy or the Root Canal Treatment was initiated and you were given a temporary filling but you were always under pain it shows that you have some vital nerve fibres still present in the root canals and when the nerves are irritated it can lead to severe inflammation and pain and there is formation of pus and exudate near the root tips of tooth.
When the tooth is packed there is no scape way for pus it puts pressure over the nerve tissue causing severe pain..
Due to food impaction in the tooth there have been secondary infection further damaging the condition..
What you can do is either consult an ENDODONTIST and get a root canal properly done followed by crown and save the tooth..
In case you are not willing to get it done taking strong antibiotics like Augmentin and painkillers like Tramadol for 5 days and go for extraction as the infection will considerably reduce and anaesthesia will act..
Hope this information helps..
