Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
yes , my tongue which has been pierced for 6yrs, has become infected yesterday am. I took out the piercing. I used peroxide yesterday and the swelling went down, today I woke up and it's swollen again. I am now using salt water and listerine. any suggestions?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..
As per your complain the first thing that you should do is to remove the tongue ring.. Secondly you should start taking a course of antibiotics like Augmentin and steroid like Methyl prednisolone for reducing infection and swelling.. Clean the pierced site with an oral antiseptic solution and apply an antimicrobial ointment over it.. Do cool compresses over the tongue.. Gargle with antiseptic mouthwash.. In case of no improvement consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated...
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
