Suggest Treatment For Severe Throat Pain

I HAVE HAD SOME PAIN IN MY RIGHT GLAND IN MY THROAT ON AND OFF FOR THE LAST WEEK OR SO. iT SEEMS TO GO AWAY AFTER I HAVE HOT SOUP, AND WILL FEEL WELL FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS JUST TO COME BACK. I KNOW IT WILL GO AWAY IF I HAVE THE SOUP, BUT I WONDER WHAT IS CAUSING THIS? I have no fever or cough. I feel very good with no fatigue.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I understand your concern.

The on and off pain you feel in your throat for the last week is suggestive for a possible viral infection with enlarged lymph-nodes of the neck.
Having a hot soup will help ease the inflammation caused by the virus explaining why you feel better.

Anti-inflammatory meds like paracetamol or ibuprofen can help together with increase in fluids intake (plain water, juice or even soups).

If this will keep for more than a few weeks, I highly recommend to get a physical examination by your doctor to check your throat, teeth and ears to determine the source of infection and get it treated adequately.

Wish fast recovery.
