Suggest Treatment For Severe Symptoms Of Dehydration

I just completed a 28 mile bike ride in 92 degree heat and am pretty sure I experienced dehydration. I was a bit dizzy and my vision was fuzzy until I got into a cooler environment and felt better. I drank about 16 oz of water, ate lunch and feel better now. My concern is that I also had shortness of breath and had a hard time catching my breath both at the end of the ride and when I first came out of the heat.. Again, my breathing is fine now. I don t feel great, but my symptoms have subsided.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It is normal to feel out of breath after such a strenuous exercise such as biking long distances and dehydration normally makes it much worse. The fact that you feel much better after resting and eating and drinking well is another reassuring fact.
You will need to prevent future episodes of dehydration while exercising as this may cause a heatstroke which can be very serious and can in some cases cause coma and death.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
