Suggest Treatment For Severe Post Herpetic Neuralgia

I have had severe post herpetic neuralgia for the past several years. no treatments have brought relief. It is being recommended that I have an implantable electric pulse device. I am 75 years old. Do you recommend this procedure and what relief could I anticipate?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As the first line of management, you can take drugs like Gabapentin for symptomatic relief. If pain persists better to consult a neurologist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Wishing you all the best. Thanks.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
