I have been having severe plantefacious pain in my left heel, have bone on bone arthris in the right knee. Both are causing awful pain through both legs and difficulty walking. I am 56 F average height weight, ect. I also have graves disease. I had surgery on knee, to no avail. Today I began to feel a twitching under my left eye and cheek. Any thoughts?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Hypothyroidism has an association with rheumatoid arthritis however rheumatoid arthritis usually affects small joints and joints like knee are usually spared. Also, knee joint pain has another association with patients whose hypothyroidism is poorly managed. Please get your thyroid function test done and get the levels of thyroid hormones if they are not in normal limits. Plantar fasciitis can be managed well with insoles for shoes and also with splints meant for plantar fasciitis. These are easily available in surgical stores.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Anoop Kumar, General & Family Physician
