Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Dr Rynne, what would cause occasional deep tissue pain in one ankle in the night; waking me up? It lasts for a few minutes. I am able to move the ankle foot and I usually try to do some stretching of the effected ankle or foot. Then not long after that pain subsided last night I was awakened by a muscle cramp or pain in the other leg. These events do not happen often, but when it does it is a bit alarming. Curious if it could be a vitamin deficiency or a circulation issue. No residual pain or tenderness afterwards or in the morning. Thanks, Dale
I read carefully your query and understand your concern.
Your symptoms can. e related to many medical conditions. Ankle pain is often caused by common injuries like a sprain, or medical conditions like arthritis, gout, or nerve damage. I suggest to check the rheumatoid factor level and the uric acid level for further evaluation. Meanwhile,I suggest using anti inflammatory medications such as Acetaminophen to relieve the pain. I also suggest using cold compresses for local application.
Hope my answer was helpful.
If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.
Kind regards!
