Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain And Ear Infection

Hi, Just left A & E. yesterday with ear pain and they said there was no infection and done a C.T scan. No meds given just Paracetamol. Pain severe and was ear nearly closed on Tuesady when it started.Pain in jaw bone and behind ear. Getting no relief on paracetamol or nureofen. Headache bad as well.

Hi,

You have severe pain and ear infection which seems to be due to wax build up and fluid accumulation leading to Eustachian tube dysfunction.

I would suggest you do warm saline gargles and apply warm dry compresses to external ear as it will give immediate relief and compress swelling if any.

You should keep your ear dry and cover your ear while bathing. Avoid usage of the phone from that side.

I would suggest you consult ENT specialist for proper diagnosis. The doctor may examine by otoscope and get audiometry testing done.

The doctor may prescribe antibiotics amoxicillin at least for a week along with decongestants.
