Suggest Treatment For Severe Neck Pain And Sore Throat

Im having some nagging neck pain. can t tilt my head back and/or from side to side without some difficulty. My entire shoulder area left and right feel stressed. and when I swallow i feel like there is something....not like a sore throat but more like a muscle strain. OTC meds (advil, Alleve) seem to help a little but not much. Concerned about meningitis?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Get physically examined you may have Pharyngitis with infections spreading to the lymph nodes. In the meantime, gargle with Listerine water (medicated mouth wash) & take antibiotics like Doxycyline. For pain take Combiflam (combination of paracetamol & Ibuprofen). You should feel better.

To rule out Meningitis you should get Imaging tests like CT, MRI, X-Ray & Spinal tap & Blood cultures done. Your treatment will depend upon the pathology detected. Stay well hydrated & take rest.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
