Suggest Treatment For Severe Neck And Throat Pain

How many days is it safe to be on prednisone for an 18 year old who may have mono.? The doctor prescribed 5 days worth tapering the doses. Her swelling is so bad she barely has room in the back of her throat. Her pain is severe in her neck,throat. Can you recommend any treatments or home remedies for helping her pain and swelling? She can t eat or drink right now unless she takes the steroids. I m concerned about the side effects of the prednisone

Hi.

Dont worry about the side effects, in most cases there is a benefit vs risk in these cases. The prednisone for a month also is fine and can easily be tapered, don't worry about it.
