Suggest Treatment For Severe Muscle Pain In The Leg While On Lorazepam

I have been known to be very sensitive to any anti anxiety drug. Symptoms are fibromyalgia like. Especially muscle pain in the legs. I have been taken more than usual lorazepam as I felt more anxious. Had forgotten about the strong reaction to anti anxiety meds, but as I am now experiencing that pain in my legs again, I wonder if this medication can do that as well? I don t see this mentioned in any information I can find online......I am 66, and the dosage I was taken was no more than 1 mg a day.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

There is no evidence-based study that can relate Lorazepam with muscle pain.

Anxiety itself can cause muscle pain. So, I would recommend continuing using Lorazepam to reduce anxiety.

I also recommend using a magnesium supplement to help with muscle contraction.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
