Suggest Treatment For Severe Mouth Ulcers After Wisdom Tooth Removal

Hi
I have recently had all 4 wisdom teeth removed and now have mouth uclers I am thinking with are very painful, I have washing my mouth with salt water 3-4 times a day which it does make it feel better. Will this get rid of the mouth uclers?? Or is there something else I can do??

Thank You

Hi Tracey..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain Mouth ulcers after extraction of teeth can occur commonly due to allergic reaction to the medicines that are given to you post extraction that are antibiotics and painkillers while more chances of reaction is with antibiotics..
You need not to worry as when you will stop taking the medicine the ulcers will slowly heal but if the condition is worsening and you are in severe pain you should consult your dentist and get evaluated and if possible he can either reduce the dose of medicine or get the medicine changed..
You can continue doing warm saline gargles, gargle with 1:1 solution of benadryl liquid and milk of magnesia, suck ice pops, apply numbing gel like orabase and steroid based oral pastes to reduce pain and burning sensation.
You can also take a Steroid tablet like Medrol or prednisone twice a day.
Maintain a good oral hygeine..
If you are not taking any painkiller you can take Ibuprofen for pain relief..

Hope this information helps..
