Suggest Treatment For Severe Middle Ear Infection And Ear Ache

I have an middle ear infection. My Eustachian tube is dysfunctional and I keep getting infections,but I m on steroids and antibiotics and ibuprofen 800 mg and still in a lot of pain. It hurts through my jaw and in my neck and sore throat on and off on same side. Piercing pain. It runs down the back of my neck and through my teeth. I had a tube put in left ear and this one needs a tube as well, but I m worried something else is going on because of still having severe pain after being on all this medication for two days. Don t know what else to do

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of severe middle ear infection and ear ache which is due to disturbance in Eustachian tube pressure as it maintains equilibrium between both the organs and their cavities. It could be due to accumulation of wax and fluids in ear. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to take antibiotics and oral decongestants. You should put nasal decongestant drops and nasonex nasal sprays as well. Maintain ear clean and don't prick it with any sharp object. Avoid blowing if you have nose infection as well as it can lead to fall of mucus in throat and further infection. Visit ENT specialist once and get it examined. Start treatment after proper examination. Avoid exposure to allergens such as mist, fog. Investigations like complete blood count & X-ray of paranasal sinus will be helpful in clinching the exact diagnosis. Maintain adequate hydration and take balanced diet.
