hi I am a new Zealander , Maori and my age is 54 I have had this severe pain in my lower back for 4 going on 5 years now and I have just been given the name of having Degenerative Arthritis in my spine by medical specialist and have just been told I may have to begin having an Epidural steroids to alleviate this pain to trial that until I go back to a Public hospital in Hamilton here in nz after 6 months of seeing if that will help instead of doing a major operation by my orthopaedic specialist and I am more frustrated then ever please help me to find any help referring to my health issue
Hi Thanks for posting on HCM I understand your pain.Degenerative disc disease can be very painful.treatment options are different lines of pain dugs, myorelaxants, steroid infiltration occasions, physiotherapy and surgery.I will suggest you see your orthopedist for evaluation. In the meantime, I will recommend: -you Give steroid infiltration with anesthesia a try -myorelaxant like miorel -Pain drug like morphine if pain too intense -Physiotherapy You can then see your Orthopedist for better treatment options . Hope this will help you Best wishes
