Suggest Treatment For Severe Leg Pain Post Flight Journey

5 days ago I returned from a 12 hour flight with severe leg pain which began 15 minutes into the flight. The pain is in the middle of the posterior right thigh. The pain has now spread to my heel with some tingling. I have no pain in my glutes, no redness or swelling. The pain is severe and constant. I am taking 1 mg of hydromorphone which eases the pain but does not take it away. I am awaiting a vascular ultrasound on Thursday. Should I await test results before seeing a physio? I am in Pain!

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As a first line management, you can take analgesics like Paracetamol or Aceclofenac for pain relief. If symptoms persist you can consult a physician and plan for a Doppler study to rule out conditions like DVT.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
