ok so..Last night I was coming down a step ladder and my dog ball was there, I saw it and tried to avoid it (which I did) however my entire knee twisted and I also fell and the pain was bad..Today is so excruciating...I took Ibubrofen, aspirin and some codeine I had in thehouse but nothing worked - I wrapped it in an ace bandage and it is killing me!! Should I go to the ER tomorrow is it is still this painful? and what can it be?
Since you have a history of trauma and complaining of pain since a long time after the incident there is a chance that you may have mild sprain of your ligaments which commonly causes such pain.
* The best way to treat it would be to give rest to the leg for few days and apply an elastic knee support while walking. this would be sufficient for a mild grade of shear. But if the problem persists for long and pain too increases you need to get thorough examination, as delaying would lead to aggravating the problem.
*if the pain is mild get an analgesic prescribed and take rest. report to a doctor if severity increases. do not worry now that you got an idea of your condition and consulted a doctor you shall be alright soon.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Best regards, Dr. Suhas Chauhan
