Suggest Treatment For Severe Itching While On Atorvastatin

I have been taking atorvastatin for about 3 months now and all of a sudden I have developed a bad itch , is this a side effect from the drug , I don t have any pets or a reason it could be anything else and that drug is the only one I take should I stop taking it to stop the itchiness?

Hi Dear,

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have severe itching while on Atorvastatin which could be due to allergic reaction related to side effects of drugs.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to take plenty of water and apply moderately potent topical steroid of triamcinolone acetonide 0.1% cream twice daily at affected sites.You should visit dermatologist once and get it examined and start treatment after proper prescription. Take tablet of cetirizine 10 mg once daily for symptomatic relief from itching.
