Suggest Treatment For Severe Itching In The Anus

Hello, I am suffering from extremely anal itch. I am not sure what the cause is, yet I have suffered from hemorrhoids in the past yet I have tried some of my hemorrhoid creams and treatments on this anal itch and it only masks the problem or worsens it. Any suggestions for treating anal itch and what it could possibly be causing it?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The anal itching can be related to many conditions such as:
- An infection which can be excluded through a stool test for bacterial infection and parasites internal hemorrhoids which can be excluded through a physical examination and colonoscopy Meanwhile, I suggest using antihistamines such as Cetirizine 10 mg daily. I also suggest using a antihistamine cream for local application.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
