Suggest Treatment For Severe Hip Pain

My hip pain is increasing but when I take ibuprofen once a day the pain goes away and I can manage thru the day and evening. If I do not take ibuprofen, I can not walk without limping and the pain is severe. Also, when I am trying to sleep, I get a throbbing in the joint at times and even wakes me up. I seen a surgeon 2 years ago and he stated that I should go as long as I can before replacing but how long do you wait?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As a first line management, you can take analgesics like Paracetamol or Aceclofenac for pain relief.

If symptoms persist better to consult an orthopaedician and get evaluated to rule out possible neurological causes like sciatica.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
