Suggest Treatment For Severe Heartburn And Acid Reflux

I have been taking Dexilant for some time now and asked my doctor to let me try something that was less expensive under my Medicare plan B Plan. I have been decreasing Dexilant recently to every other day with no adverse issues. So I took the first protonix today and all of a sudden I have been experiencing heart burn and acid reflux this afternoon worse than I have had in years. Could protonix initially caused an over production of acid from the first pill???????????????

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Both Dexilant and Protonix are proton pump inhibitors i.e. both these drugs inhibit acid production and hence acidity and heartburn.

In case response to Protonix is not good, you may revert back to Dexilant for reflux problem.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
