Suggest Treatment For Severe Fatigue And Nausea

My husband is 60 years old. He has had symptoms for 2 to 3 months which include. Dry heaving every morning when up for approximately 10-20 minutes followed by extreme fatigue and nausea. His tongue has been covered with a thick orange coating. He has a horrible taste in his mouth. His ears are ringing. He has severe burning in his chest and stomach and in his mouth and throat. He has been to his doctor at least 5 different times. Each time coming home with another antibiotic, or medicine for thrush. He is just miserable at times. These symptoms are daily, but not all day long. The may come on sudden and leave as quick as they come. Some days he cannot function due to fatigue. He has been on a gluten free diet for approximately 4 years. He had a heart attack when he was 40 and is on Topral, Lipator, Previcid daily with a low dose aspirin. Please help.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Do continue to take the medicine prescribed for thrush. He can use a mouth wash or Listerine water to gargle 2-3 times a day. Take an audiometry test to detect & rule out any developing deafness. Tinnitus can be treated with medications & surgery.

Sometimes severe fatigue & nausea can be indicative of developing coronary artery disease. He has a history of a heart attack as well. Since he is having chest pain, get him physically examined. Get CBC, urinalysis, X-ray, ECG, Echocardiography, if required CT & MRI done. In the meantime, he can take antacids & PPI's like Pantoprazole - 40 for any type of acid reflux causing a burning sensation in stomach & chest.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K,
