Suggest Treatment For Severe Ear Pain And Hearing Loss

We went to a pool and the beach a couple days in a row. My 10yr old son started complaining about pain in his left ear. Thumping and loss of hearing. I noticed a lot of water in his ear so I used a tissue to soak up what I saw. Told him to keep his head tilted that way so it could drain. Today, less pain, but there s also some blood along with the watery discharge. What should I do and when should I take him to the doctor?

Hi,
Welcome to health care magic,

It might be because of bacterial or fungal in ear canal or otitis media or labyrynthitis etc.

Your son should undergo routine blood counts, ESR with ear examination by expert.

He will require oral antibiotics (quinolones or cephalosporins group preferred) with analgesics and antiinflammatory with other supportive treatment.

The important thing is to diagnose first means which problem causes eat pain and hearing loss.

You must consult ENT specialist and get diagnosed first.

Don't worry your son will be alright after that.

Regards,
