General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello
I share your concern
Hard cough might be related to inflammation of the upper airways
Another possibility is acid reflux which on regurgitation of food content can irritate the pharyngeal mucosa and can cause cough
Here I would like more information to help you better
Your age and relevant medical history

In my opinion you should take expectorant cough syrup like Bromhexine and steam inhalation
you should do deep breathing exercises
Complete abstinence of smoking is required

Please write back to me with more relevant details so that I will be able to tell you more precisely
Best wishes
