Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
for the past few weeks, i will periodically get diarrhea. Sometimes it is combined with cramping like what i usually get when i get sick or have to have a nasty bowel movement. this morning i was awaken at 6am with the urge to go. it was diarrhea and i ended up going about 5 times before 11 am. I took an anti diarehea medicine and i have been a little sick today since but not enough to stop me from golfing 18 holes. I am still a bit ill but just not feeling 100%. i have been having this experience about every 4 -6 days or so for about a month. any ideas what it could be? in between i have solid bowel movements but no constipation whatsoever. I remain quite regular but with the loose bowel I will usually go for a day with no movement.
It is due to an infection which frequently effects your GIT. You need to take antibiotic coverage for one week and for that first we need to see your stool test report.
However to control diarrhoea hygiene has more role. Wash hands before eating, wash foods before eating, take boiled water always.
You also take light meals in the diet. You report emergency room as well for tests and accordingly specific antibiotic treatment can be initiated.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
